Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia would extend support to ensure durable peace in Sudan.
While discussing with a Sudanese delegation led by country’s Foreign Minister, Ali Karti on Thursday the premier said Ethiopia is keen to see peaceful and stable Sudan.
The premier said as stability in Sudan would mean a lot to Ethiopia and to the region, Ethiopia would do its level best for the same cause, according to a spokesperson from the ministry of foreign affairs.
After the discussion, the Sudanese FM told journalists that after the referendum things have been improving.
The situation in Abyie is not as desired, he said and adding, he would strive to address the case through the joint commission established by the two countries.
The FM said his government has attached great importance for the relations with Ethiopia and keen to further enhance the relations.
He said the relation has been gaining momentum especially over the past seven years.
The FM said their discussion was centered on bilateral concerns, South Sudan, Darfur cases as well as regional and continental
