ZAMBIAN businesswoman arrested in Ethiopia for drug trafficking

(23rd January 2011, Addis Ababa)- A ZAMBIAN businesswoman has been arrested in Ethiopia for alleged drug trafficking. Izalo Kalenda, 31, was arrested at Addis Abba international airport on her way from Pakistan via Dubai to Zimbabwe.

This is according to a statement released on January 22 by Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) public relations officer, John Nyawali.

Mr Nyawali said Ms Kalenda allegedly swallowed the heroin weighing over half a kilogramme. She is detained in Ethiopia awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, the DEC has arrested a 24-year-old man of John Laing Township in Lusaka for allegedly trafficking in pure grade cocaine. Read more »
